Carne Casa

Carne Casa is a Portuguese steak house on 11th Avenue in Bulawayo, and reviewers talk about the chalk artwork covering one wall almost as often as they talk about the espetada and steak of the day. Bhekinkosi (May 2024) recommends “their steak breakfast if you want to recover from a bad hangover,” and Kudzanai (November 2020) kept it short: “The steak is brilliant.” Talent (2022) had a beef steak that was “juicy and tender” and noted that the chef “came through to check on us” after the meal.

Service draws praise by name more than by policy. Hughna (October 2020) said their waitress Nonzile “was attentive, quick and amazingly friendly”, and Nicole (May 2024) singled out server Angela as friendly, though Nicole's fries arrived cold. Thabo (2024) rated the visit 4 stars but found the dining room “too dark and gloomy inside” for a lunch date and warned that “Their orders take time to be ready, you have to be really patient.”

The bar gets its own following, from the 1L draught boots to the Caipiri cocktails, and Jonathan (2022) rated the wine selection wide alongside “the chalk Art work.” The menu runs from chicken supreme and grilled bream to burgers and a Sunday rodizio.
