Ja'Dijo on Robert Mugabe Way is Bulawayo's paint-and-play restaurant, where diners can grill their own meat at the table, play board games or paint a canvas while food is prepared. Oxtail is the dish reviewers keep coming back for. Tsungie (December 2024) called it “the best I have had this year”. Zembe (August 2025) agreed the oxtail “was so well cooked that the meat literally fell off the bones”.

Waiting time is the recurring complaint, though the games help pass it. Thethelela (September 2024) said “the service is kinda slow”, and Lewis (March 2024) found “the waiting period for the food is a bit long”. Drinks are hit and miss: on Tsungie's visit the selection was down to coke and fanta with no boba tea, while Josephine and Nicole both keep returning for the boba tea when it is available.

“Our waiter Thabiso was by far the highlight of the evening, you could tell he really enjoy his work. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that we can paint ceramics/canvases and play a variety of games whilst we enjoy our meal, a perfect place to come with a larger group.”

“A very creative theme for a food outlet. The prices are reasonable. The waiters/waitresses are friendly, but they need a bit more experience. We had a great talk with the head chef pictured above and he’s forthcoming and willing to listen to people’s outcry’s.”
