Service is a recurring weak point. Ruvarashe (2024) had a steak that “was cold”, found the kitchen had run short of steaks, forcing some guests in the group to switch dishes, and found the cocktails ordered “a little too sweet”. Alex (2024) had a similarly patchy visit, describing “not enough menus, drinks being forgotten, plates being cleared whilst others ate”, and summed up the food as good but service “mediocre”. Grace (2025) suggested improving “the welcome service by the door”.

When it goes well, reviewers highlight the setting for special occasions, and Takunda (January 2026) enjoyed “an intimate evening with family or friends” for a birthday dinner. The Bishop's Mistress is closed Mondays and takes bookings by WhatsApp.
