Tinkabell, now at Ballantyne Shopping Centre, built its name on charcoal-grilled peri-peri chicken. Julie (2023) called the half chicken and chips “absolutely divine”, saying the tenderness and flavour had Julie “licking my fingers” and ranking it among the best chicken dishes Julie's had in Harare.

Recent visits are less consistent. George (2022) found the peri-peri chicken “quite devoid of any flavour” despite being perfectly grilled, and George's wife's T-bone arrived rare instead of medium rare and turned out “a tough piece of meat”. Tinka (April 2026) ordered a $12 halloumi burger that arrived without the promised roasted vegetables or basil mayo, calling it “a very sad burger” Tinka would normally pay $3 for.

Prices and ambience draw mixed notes too. Kelvin (2021) enjoyed live music and the ducks in the garden but found it “A bit pricey”, and Debbie (2022) liked the space across its bar, dining room and Monkey bar area, though Debbie found the lighting in the main bar a little bright.

“First time at this new venue in Ballantyne Park shopping centre. Great welcome, super staff attention. Still some renovations under way but altogether good visually. Thought the lighting a little bright in the main bar room, but that was my personal opinion.”
